ROBUST AO was founded in 2020 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF). The team is united by a passion for developing innovative methods to solve technical challenges in laser material processing. As a specialist supplier, ROBUST AO offers extremely fast Z-axes across an exceptionally wide wavelength range.
Our technology enables the fastest 3D laser processing for all laser classes – from ultra-short pulse (USP) lasers to multi-kilowatt systems. Our portfolio comprises five specialised ZWOBBEL® systems for dedicated application areas:
ZWOBBEL® UV: Optimised for high-precision microstructuring. It solves the typical scaling problems in UV applications through superior control over pure laser power.
ZWOBBEL® GREEN+IR: The combined solution for complex processes in battery technology and copper drilling, bringing together the best of both wavelengths.
ZWOBBEL® IR: Designed for multi-kilowatt CW applications and UKP applications with maximum industrial power of 40kW. Enables clean cuts and weld seams (e.g. 800µm copper, UKP laser) without thermal influence on the surrounding material.
ZWOBBEL® 2MICRON: Specialised for polymer processing and medical technology.
ZWOBBEL® CO2: The solution for organic materials, plastics and glass processing
These are complemented by ZWOBBELControl with innovative controller solutions that eliminate damping and oscillations for peak physical performance.
Compared to conventional methods, the ROBUST AO solution enables drastically reduced processing times through dynamic beam shaping via axial oscillation and particularly fast focusing without sky-writing at speeds of up to 80 m/s. This not only massively increases production quality and speed, but also reduces energy consumption, making it significantly more resource-efficient.
